Samsung more popular than Apple !!

Monday, December 19, 2011

Sarcastic new adverts are giving Samsung's Galaxy Nexus the edge over Apple's iPhone, a key poll has claimed

Samsung’s latest Galaxy Nexus campaign is boosting the smartphone brand's reputation, with popularity levels rising above Apple’s iPhone last week, according to a YouGov survey of US consumers.
The adverts poke fun at Apple fans who camp outside stores for the latest iPhone release, as well as taking a swing at the device’s poor battery life and lack of 4G connectivity. While reminiscent of Apple’s own “Get a Mac” campaign, which took explicit jabs at Microsoft back in 2006, Samsung’s adverts cleverly avoid naming Apple or its flagship phone.

The iPhone’s reputation fell at the time of Samsung’s first advert in late November. At the same time, according to YouGov's BrandIndex 'buzz score', there was an upward trend in Samsung’s popularity.

A record number of Samsung handsets has already been sold this year, and the release of the Galaxy Nexus, Google's new flagship device, means the trend is set to continue. Now it appears Samsung’s brand perception is also on the rise, leaving Apple behind for the first time since the launch of the iPhone.

According to the poll, the respective rise and fall in perception of Samsung and Apple is found mostly in adults aged 50 and over. It is likely that the lack of anticipated features such as 4G in this year’s iPhone 4S played a significant role in shaping these perceptions. The shifting attitudes will put further pressure on Apple to impress with their next iteration of the iPhone, expect in summer 2012.
